Vodafone Trade In

Vodafone customers can Trade In their old phones online. If you're not a customer, you can switch to Vodafone and Trade In your phone either in-store or online. To Trade in at a Vodafone store you can apply the trade-in value to a new phone. Ensure your phone has the latest iOS or Android version.

The value of your old phone is determined as per the model and condition of your phone. You can check the value of your phone on the Trade In portal. On the portal you can enter some details about the phone you want to trade in and run diagnostic tests. This will test different functions on your phone. Once completed, it shows the trade-in value you can receive for your phone.

Yes. If you are an existing Vodafone mobile customer, you can trade in an old phone at any time online. Vodafone Bill Pay customers can choose to get the money straight into their bank account or added as credit to their mobile account. Vodafone Pay as you go customers can get the money straight into their bank account.

The time to receive your money from the trade in of your phone depends on the process that you’ve opted for to receive the money.

1. If you choose to get the trade in value straight into your bank account:

Once you drop your package to an An Post drop-off point, you will receive your money in 4-6 business days. Find your nearest An Post drop-off point.

2. If you choose to get the trade in value applied to your account as credit:

This credit will be applied on your next full billing cycle.

3. If you are eligible for a Trade In Boost:

The Trade in Boost* value will be added to your account as credit and will be applied in monthly increments. For example, a €200 boost will be applied as €20 per month for 10 months.

*Trade In Boosts are only available to Bill Pay customers online. Pay as you go customers must go in store to avail of trade in boosts.

There are various steps in the overall trade in process.

1. How to start the trade in process for my phone?

You can start the trade in process via the My Vodafone app or our Trade In information page.

2. How to find the exact model of my smartphone?

In the online diagnostic process, you can select the model of your smartphone from a drop-down menu. If you are unsure what model phone you have, you can find this in the Settings of your phone.

3. What if you don’t find my smartphone in the Trade In search bar

Unfortunately, the Vodafone Trade In service is not available to all mobile phones in the market. This is due to unavoidable operational reasons. If there is no option for your device, we recommend visiting your nearest Vodafone store and leave it with us to be recycled responsibly.

4. How is the buyback value calculated?

Your smartphone will be evaluated through an online diagnostic process. The buyback value of a model depends on the condition of the device and its value on the used smartphone market. Recommerce will confirm the buyback value after receiving and inspecting the device.

5. What if Recommerce evaluates my smartphone differently to the online process?

Every smartphone is checked by ReCommerce upon arrival at their processing centre. You will receive a new offer by e-mail if the condition of your smartphone differs from the evaluation of the online diagnostic process. You can accept or reject this new offer within 7 days.

How long is the buyback value offer valid for?

The offer is valid for 15 days. After this date, the buyback value may change.

You can send your old smartphone back via your nearest An Post drop-off point with the provided envelope/package.

Stick the provided shipping label on the outside of the packaging. You should receive both the envelope/package and shipping label to your chosen address once you have approved the trade in value and submitted your contact details.

What do I need to consider before shipping?

Recommerce permanently and securely deletes all personal data on your old smartphone in the processing centre.

We also recommend that you delete all your data yourself before sending it away. Save your data beforehand or transfer it to your new phone (if you have one) before sending your old smartphone away. Disable all access codes, for example the PIN code, reactivate the default settings, remove the SIM card, or delete the eSIM from your old smartphone.

How can I track the processing of my old smartphone?

You will receive an email when your old smartphone has arrived at our partner Recommerce. With each processing step, you will receive another email. If you still have questions, please email vodafonetradein+ie@recommerce.com

Why does my old smartphone go to Recommerce and not to Vodafone?

Recommerce is our partner for the responsible processing of used devices.

Do I send accessories from my old smartphone like headphones or cables?

No. All you must do is to send your old smartphone. You can keep your accessories such as headphones or charging cables and continue to use them.

Important: You will not get your accessories or the original packaging back if you send them with your old smartphone. Recommerce recycles them for free. Do not send a smartphone with a damaged or bloated battery. You can recognise this by, for example, a deformation of the smartphone or extraordinary heat development.

What if my old smartphone is lost or damaged in transit to Recommerce?

What if I don't want to send my old smartphone or if I don't send it in time?

The buyback value for your old smartphone is considered an offer for 15 days.

You can only cancel the order if you have not yet sent your smartphone. If you would like to cancel a return that you have already made via the ReTrade process, please email our partner Recommerce to: vodafonetradein+ie@recommerce.com

How long does it take to check my old smartphone?

Recommerce checks your old smartphone immediately upon receipt. As a rule, it takes 5 days maximum. If there are any changes, you will immediately receive an update by email.

Recommerce takes back the smartphones, then repairs and refurbishes them. This gives your old and used device a second life. Functional smartphones are then resold in Europe and in emerging markets. This gives the population there access to a mobile phone.

Can I return damaged or broken smartphones?

Yes, you can drop off damaged or broken smartphones to selected stores to be recycled. See below for a list of Vodafone.
