Using technology to support a more sustainable future
Energy and climate
We are on track with our plan to reach net zero emissions from our operations by 2028. Like many of our industry peers, and aligned with the national ambitions of the countries in which we operate, we support the long-term ambition to achieve net zero emissions across our entire supply chain. We want the telecommunications supply chain to achieve net zero emissions by no later than 2040 and are actively working with industry peers and suppliers to support supplier decarbonisation and circular economy initiatives.
As part of our climate transition, we have plans in place to transition our fleet to fully electric by 2028, subject to vehicle availability and operational requirements. Vodafone Ireland holds ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 certifications for our offices, retail, data centre and network operational footprint, supporting our environmental and energy management systems.

Vodafone provides technologies and services that can help customers improve operational efficiency, manage energy use and support their sustainability objectives.
Circular Economy
Upgrading telecommunications equipment can generate electronic waste. Vodafone Ireland manages decommissioned network equipment through reuse, resale and recycling routes. In FY26 our decommissioned electronic and electrical network equipment was reused, resold or sent to recyclers to be processed for downstream e-waste recycling, with no guarantee that all materials will be recovered.
Device trade-in, repair and recycling
We are supporting our customers to bring their used electronic devices back to us. At Vodafone, we tackle the growing problem of e-waste in Ireland, including offering refurbished smartphones, Trade In, device repair, and recycling services. Depending on their condition, these initiatives enable eligible returned devices to be repaired, refurbished for resale, donated, or sent to approved recyclers.
