How to use tethering to turn your phone into a wireless modem you can use anywhere.
Tethering means using your phone as a modem – great when you need to connect a laptop or computer to the internet in a hurry. If you’re on bill pay and have a 3G phone, you may be able to use it for tethering.
Connect your phone to your computer using a USB cable (or a special cable that comes with your phone) or via Bluetooth. You may also have to change some of the setting on your phone – check your user manual for details.
The data bundle in your price plan doesn't include data used when your phone is connected as a modem, but we have great value tethering bundles if you want to use tethering regularly.
| Vodafone tethering add ons | Monthly cost | Data |
|---|---|---|
| Pay monthly 1GB | €9.99 | 1GB |
| Pay monthly 10GB | €19.90 | 10GB |
| Prepay 30 day 5GB | €20 | 5GB |
You can buy an add on:
If you do use tethering without an add on, it can be expensive. For example, Perfect Choice Access Plus pay monthly customers will pay 2c per kb for the first 512kb and 2c per MB thereafter – so the first 1MB costs €10.25.
On business plans, the standard Perfect Choice and enterprise business rates are 2c per KB for the first 512KB and .001c per KB thereafter. And if you do buy an add on, once you exceed your limit, your data usage will cost 2c per MB.
You'll be charged for a minimum of 10KB every time you make a data (GPRS/3G) connection.
