What is mobile broadband?
Mobile broadband is internet access without the need for a fixed land line. It’s convenient and portable, allowing you to connect wirelessly to the internet wherever you are, on the Vodafone Ireland network.
Not sure what's what or need help deciding?
How does it work?
Mobile broadband uses the same technology as your mobile phone, except instead of making a voice call over the phone, your modem makes a data call across the Vodafone network which connects you to the internet. Mobile broadband gives you all the benefits of regular broadband, with the added bonus of wireless mobility.
What do I need?
Depending on the device you will be using to go online – laptop, iPad, PDA, games console – you will need to choose either a mobile broadband modem or a MicroSim in order to connect to Vodafone’s data network.
If you’re going to be the only user, our USB stick modems are ideal – perfect for desktops or laptops and easy to carry.
If you want to share your mobile broadband connection with more than one device, the Mobile Wi-Fi or Sharing Dock will allow you to create your own Wi-Fi zone instantly using mobile broadband.
And of course we have the latest MicroSIMs for iPad users.
See which suits you best, then sign up to one of our fantastic mobile broadband plans and start enjoying all the benefits of Vodafone’s quick and reliable mobile broadband network today.
How much data do I need?
This depends on the type of online activity you will use your mobile broadband connection for and how long you will spend online each month. Everyone's different but we have put together a sample usage example for each data allowance, showing you just some of the activities you could do with your data each month.
How will I benefit?
We’ve got bill pay and pay as you go plans to suit the way you want to go online.
We also offer an array of data add-ons for more specialised needs: to use your phone as a modem, or if you wish to use peer-to-peer or VoIP sites on a regular basis over mobile broadband.
Where can I use it?
We currently provide 90% population coverage in Ireland and this is growing all the time. See our coverage maps to check network coverage in your part of the country.
You can also use Vodafone Mobile Broadband when you're abroad, as long as you're roaming on a HSDPA, 3G or GPRS network. To find out if your destination is covered, call us on 1800 584 584 before you go. Find out more about data roaming

Can I try it out?
No problem. In the unlikely event that your new device doesn't do what you expect it to, you can get a full refund on any mobile broadband modem if you return it within 7 working days of receipt. Just call 1800 584 584 first to let them know it's on its way back. Vodafone returns policy
