Looking after your mobile phone
How to take the best care of your mobile.
Battery life
- Your new battery is not charged when your phone arrives. For maximum performance, charge it for 12 hours initially and then let it completely discharge (run down). Repeat twice.
- Allow your battery to completely discharge at least once every two weeks.
- Don't leave your mobile lying on electronic appliances - such as stereos or fridges - as magnetic fields can reduce the life of your battery.
General phone care
- Make sure your mobile is kept dry: moisture will damage it.
- If you're in a bar or restaurant, don't leave your mobile on the table as accidental spillage could damage your handset.
- It's a good idea to use a cover for your mobile to protect it against knocks, scrapes and spillage.
Protect against theft
- If your mobile is PIN-enabled, make use of this feature: it will ensure that calls can't be made from your mobile if it's lost or stolen. Refer to your phone's user manual for details on setting up or changing your PIN.
- Remember to make a note of your IMEI - your phone's unique ID number - so that your mobile can be traced if it's stolen and being used - the IMEI can be found either under the battery, or by keying *#06# into your keypad.
- Never reveal your PIN number to anyone; treat it as you would a bank card PIN: keep it strictly private.
