How to set up your BlackBerry internet account

Setting up your BlackBerry internet account

  1. Go to the BlackBerry internet homepage. It's a good idea to bookmarkthis page for future reference.
  2. Click on 'Create new account' on the BlackBerry homepage. This will bring you to the 'Account Setup' page.
  3. Enter the PIN and IMEI codes for your BlackBerry handheld and click Submit. You'll find these codes printed under the battery on your handheld, or by going to Settings and then Status in your handheld menu.
  4. Accept the terms and conditions when prompted to do so.
  5. You will next be asked for the following:
  • User ID: This will be used to login to your BlackBerry Internet account. Please enter a user ID between two and 64 characters long. The userID will also be used to construct your handheld email address, in the form userID@mobileemail.vodafone.ie.
  • Friendly Name. The Friendly Name will appear in the From: field on all your outgoing emails. Usually this will be your first and last name.
  • Password. Passwords should be four to 16 characters long and are case sensitive. Passwords must not contain accented characters.
  • Choose a Secret Question and enter an answer. If you forget your password, your identity can be verified by correctly answering your secret question.
  • Once you've completed these fields, click 'submit'.
  1. You may now be asked to enter a different user ID if the name you chose is already in use. Otherwise, you will be told your new User ID, password and BlackBerry internet address. Once you've noted these down, click 'done'.

Your BlackBerry Internet account has been successfully created! You now have the option to add ISP email accounts.

ISP Email Integration

  1. If you wish to add an existing email account - such as your company email address - to your BlackBerry Internet account, select 'Add Account'.
  2. On the Email Accounts page you will be asked for the following:
  • Email address: Enter the complete address of the email account you want to add (eg john.doe@vodafone.com).
  • User Name: This is the portion of the email address before the "@" symbol in the address (in the above, it would be 'john.doe'.
  • Password: This is the password you use to access this email account.
Once you've entered this information, click 'submit'. .
  1. You can go on to add further email accounts if you wish. Once you've completed the above process for all the addresses you wish to add, select 'done'. You can always go back and add or remove addresses at a later date.
  2. Next, you can select a 'Sent From' address. This is the address that will be visible to people you email - so that it can appear that you are emailing from any one of the other accounts you've added. By default, the 'Sent From' address will be your new BlackBerry internet address (eg john.doe@mobileemail.vodafone.ie). If you wish to change this, select 'I want to customize', and fill in the full email address you wish to have as your 'Sent From' address. Once you've finished, click 'submit'.

Your ISP email integration is now complete! Remember, you can add or modify external email accounts later through the Profile option in your BlackBerry Internet account.

Please note: The BlackBerry Web Client service is not suitable for integration with some email accounts. Customers should check with their Internet Service Provider whether the BlackBerry Web Client service may be used with that ISP and whether any limitations or restrictions apply. In certain circumstances your email provider may not allow POP or IMAP forwarding. In other circumstances customers will be required to pay a once-off fee to enable POP/IMAP access.
