Why am I charged for calls to voicemail and Business Care while I'm abroad?

When you use your phone abroad, Vodafone Ireland relies on foreign operators to carry your call to its destination. The foreign operator in turn charges Vodafone Ireland for this service, so unfortunately we have to charge our customers to cover those costs.

How do I select the Vodafone network?

You must manually select our network in your phone when you travel. Please refer to your handset manual for full instructions. Check here for a list of Vodafone partner networks worldwide.

A few tips for roaming

Make sure you have the right phone:

Most of our phones will work just about anywhere, but if you're heading to the USA, Canada or Latin America, you'll need a triband phone. In the Caribbean, you'll need a quadband phone. If you don't have one, don't worry - you can rent one for the duration of your trip. Find out more about mobile phone rentals.

Bring the essentials:

How to contact us while you're abroad

In most countries, you can dial 1907 to reach Business Care, just as you would at home. In those countries where this is not possible, dial 00353 42 933 1999.

5. How do I unlock my phone (PUK/NAC code)?

If you enter your PIN code incorrectly 3 times, your phone will be blocked and you will need your PUK (Personal Unblocking Key) to unlock it.

Get your PUK code:

Your PUK code is printed on your SIM certificate, which you would have received when you first got connected.

The universal code for unblocking the majority of handsets is **05*PUK*PIN*PIN#

Get your PUK code in My Vodafone.

You can also get your PUK by calling Business Care on 1907 (from any landline or mobile).

Just follow these steps once you've dialled:

  1. From the main menu, press '2' for service & settings and enter your Self Service password (the last four digits of your customer number)
  2. From this menu, press '1' for the PUK options
  3. Press '1' to hear your PUK, or '2' to hear instructions on how to unblock your phone.
