Each year we support good causes by sponsoring various events around the country.
SOS - one of the foundation’s charity partners - is an Irish charity focussed on breaking down the stigma associated with mental health and supporting those affected.
Together, Vodafone and Dublin GAA have endorsed a unique initiative for the charity. During the first games of the Allianz National Football and Hurling Leagues, Vodafone’s logo is replaced with SOS’s logo, delivering a timely boost for the promotion of mental health issues in Ireland.
As part of the promotion, Vodafone and Dublin GAA are asking customers across all networks to donate €2 to SOS, to help fund ongoing work in the area of mental health. Subscribers can donate by texting the word ‘SOS’ to 50300, with the entire proceeds going to the charity.
We are delighted to be the official telecommunications partner for the 2012 Irish Paralympic Team. In the run up to the London 2012 Olympic games and beyond, Vodafone will help rally public support for the Paralympians, whose outstanding achievements have turned them into extraordinary role models.
Last year, Vodafone Ireland Foundation contributed €30,000 towards the running cost of Tour De Picnic, a unique charity challenge that combines long distance cycling with the music festival Electric Picnic.
And it proved to be a huge success; on 2 September, 1,000 hardy festival goers gathered at Tallaght Stadium to cycle the not-inconsiderable distance of 80km all the way to Stradbally, Co Laois.
