Vodafone is Ireland's leading mobile communications operator with 2.35 million customers.
Our vision is to be the communications leader in an increasingly connected world.
Vodafone is Ireland's leading total communications provider with over 2.35 million mobile and fixed subscribers. We employ approximately 1300 people in Dublin and Dundalk; almost half of whom work in customer care, providing customer support 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Vodafone makes significant investments building and maintaining our networks and to date, we have invested approximately €900 million developing 3G services in Ireland as part of a €1bn investment programme. Vodafone continues to invest to enhance our network.
Vodafone remains at the forefront of innovation in Ireland and earlier this year announced the rollout of HSPA+, or 3.5G technology. This will enable the network with a 21Mbps data download speed delivering a significantly enhanced mobile broadband experience to Vodafone’s customers.
Vodafone continues to lead the market with the introduction of innovative and best in class products. In July of this year we launched a new up to 24Mbps uncongested broadband service to almost 550,000 lines in Ireland. Roll out of this service began in June and will be available to over 70% of the population by the end of 2010.
Vodafone first entered the Irish market in May 2001, after acquiring Eircell in the largest deal ever in Irish corporate history, but our origins date back to 1984, when Ireland’s first mobile phone service was launched as part of the former state telco Telecom Eireann. Operating under the separate brand, Eircell, it enjoyed huge expansion in the late 1990s as mobile telephony was embraced in Ireland.
As part of the Vodafone Group, we are now the world's leading international mobile communications group with approximately 347 million proportionate customers as at 30 June 2010. Vodafone currently has equity interests in 31 countries across five continents and around 40 partner networks worldwide.
Our corporate headquarters are a state of the art corporate village based in MountainView, Leopardstown.
MountainView is approximately 30 minutes from the city centre, with a direct motorway link to Dublin Airport (approx. 45 minutes). It is serviced by the Luas tram line and is adjacent to both the N11 and M50.
